சில எழுத்துகள் ஒரே மாதிரி ஒலிப்பது போலத் தோன்றும்; ஓர் எழுத்து மாறினால் பொருளே மாறிவிடும்.

Some letters sound alike, but changing one letter changes the whole meaning.

ர–ற, ல–ள–ழ ஆகியவற்றை நன்றாகக் கவனிக்க வேண்டும்.

உச்சரிப்பு: ல — நாக்கு நுனி மேல்பற்களுக்குச் சற்றுப் பின்னே தொடும்; ள — நாக்கு நுனி பின்னோக்கி வளைந்து மேல்வாயைத் தொடும்; ழ — நாக்கு நுனி வளைந்து மேல்வாயைத் தொடாமல் ஒலிக்கும்.

Say it: ல – tongue tip just behind the upper teeth; ள – tongue tip curls back and touches the roof; ழ – tongue tip curls back but does not touch.

ர — நாக்கு மெல்லத் தட்டும்; ற — நாக்கு வலுவாகத் தட்டி ஒலிக்கும்.

ர is a light tap of the tongue; ற is a firmer tap.
